St Joseph's Primary School and Nursery Unit, Bessbrook, Newry

Welcome

Dear Friends

Welcome to our School Website.

We hope that you enjoy your visit and that as we continue to add updates it will provide a sense of the ethos and nature of life in our school.

At St. Joseph’s we value and cherish all our children and every member of our school family strives to create an environment where children feel happy, safe and ready to learn. Our staff and Governors are committed to the school and work hard to provide the very best opportunities for all children to develop their learning and individual skills and talents, to see the potential in themselves and to support them in realising that potential. Our children are encouraged to be respectful, caring and hardworking to help support their relationships with others and their lives in the future.

As a Catholic school our ethos centres on nurturing every child’s personal, emotional and spiritual needs and continuing to maintain our close links with home, Parish and the wider community. We endeavour to provide a quality education through a broad and balanced curriculum supported by a wide range of additional activities, which meets the needs of all children and allows them to grow in learning, love and faith.

Well done girls!
Congratulations to our School Eco Committee led by Miss McArdle and the Primary 6 children who have successfully been awarded the Green Flag for our school. The whole school have undertaken a series of projects and initiatives such as promoting our Healthy Eating policy, Reducing, re-using and recycling throughout our school and working hard to conserve energy.
As part of Safer Internet Week 2024, Miss Smith organised a visit from the Slieve Gullion North Neighbourhood Policing Team. The officers had a busy day presenting to all the pupils from P.1 - P.7 covering the topics of Internet Safety, Stranger Danger and Keeping safe in the community. They provided the pupils with great tips on keeping themselves safe both online and offline. The pupils really enjoyed the sessions, particularly the Q&A section, asking some interesting questions. A big thank you to the Slieve Gullion North Neighbourhood Policing Team for taking the time to speak with our pupils.
Catherine is also a past pupil of St Joseph’s….well done Catherine.
