P.5 recently had a firemen visit where they learned ways to stay safe and were taught some very important points:
Check you have a smoke alarm in your homes and if you don’t, call Newry fire station and they can come out and fit them for free.
Never charge phones/devices under or beside pillows.
Never leave a candle unattended - put it in a well ventilated area with no paper around it.
Close all doors at night - holds a fire back for 30 minutes.
Every household should have a fire exit plan.
Make a fire exit plan :
- Make sure all toys etc are away and exits are clear
- Leave door keys close to the door to get out safely and quickly in a fire
- Get to a safe area and phone 999
