Help your child with Communication and Self Esteem
Issue No. 6 of the EA Literacy Service Newsletter
It is time for the next exciting issue of our Literacy Service Newsletter, ‘Read All About It’. In this
issue No. 6, the focus is Communication and Self-Esteem. It explains in short videos why
communication is important and what your child can gain from good communication. A variety of
talking and listening activities, showing children playing games, a story-telling video, a snapshot of
using Makaton sign language and with suggestions of what parents can say to encourage their
children’s talking and listening skills. The second section provides top tips to help raise self-esteem,
develop awareness of self-worth through mindfulness, gives examples of positive affirmation cards,
songs, movies and books to promote positivity and resilience. It is packed full of good ideas to help
inspire, support and challenge all our children and young people to be the best they can be. We
would ask you to share this issue with your parents/carers and wider school community, if
appropriate, and please feel free to share it on your school social media platforms and website.
